Product well worth it Sep 27, 2008 This product does the trick very nicely. As other reviews have mentioned, any moisture on leaves will affect this units pickup abilities. But seriously, any moisture on leaves affects the performance of a rake too, does it not? This model was much cheaper than the equivalant Craftsman model and does a neat and tidy job. When getting started with this, or I would imagine any sweeper, be patient. You have the find the right balance of speed and brush height. After experimenting for about 10 minutes I found an excellent balance that handles leaves, twigs and even pine cones.
This item is much more durable and beefy than I expected it to be - actually weighs in at a bout 80 pounds. I am mechanically inclined, and assembly was a bit of a pain, but totally doable. Not real difficult to assemble just awkward at times.
Definitely recommend this prioduct, and the service from Amazon. Found this item here much cheaper than others, and also the only retailer offering free shipping. Saved me a lot of money (again weighs 80 darn pouns!)
Between money spent (and saved) and the performance of this product, an easy 5 stars from me.
Only for the mechanically inclined. Jul 25, 2008 This sweeper works great for light duty pickup. Although, the assembly of the unit is quite complexed. If you've got the time and patience it is worth the effort.
Works Well After 3 1/2 Years of Sweeping My Acre Lawn Jul 21, 2008 I really like this sweeper. It cost more now but I would still buy it today. I set it at 3/4" above ground height so I intentionally do not pick up all of the grass. It still removes all visible grass and tree leaves. I have experimented with mulching or not mulching and am still not sure which is better. If you mulch, you can sweep while you mow, however, the mower causes the sweeper to fill faster on the right side requiring more frequent emptying, but I have to go over very little to clean up remnants after mowing. If I do not mulch, I have to sweep the entire lawn after mowing, but the sweeper loads uniformly and holds more, requiring fewer dumps!
The sweeper is more durable than it looks. I didn't expect the bag to last over a season of mowing with my large yard, but except for a few scratches, it looks as good as ever. My only suggestion is not to install the two rods to expand the back of the bag. Without them, I can stop filling the bag when necessary by folding it, and it requires much less storage space. In use, it does not fold unless you purposely fold it. When full, dumping it requires a pretty hard pull on the dumping rope. I'm glad I didn't purchase the larger model!
If you have a lot of trees or other obstacles in your yard, this is not the grass catcher you need. It is too difficult to maneuver in tight places.
Lawn Sweeper Jul 02, 2008 Assembly requires experience. Not for the mechnically challeged. The instructions were brief and to the point. All parts were present and fit together as instructed. Assembly was completed in a few hours.
I have used the sweeper a total of 4 times so far. It does a great job of picking up yard cuttings, maple helicopter seeds, and items mowed unintentionally. (flashlight pieces, AA batteries, toy pieces, etc.)
I mow just under 1/2 acre about once a week. This fills the sweeper with one load.

Works for most things. Jan 12, 2008 WOrks for dry leaves, large pine needles, small pine cones, dry grass. Doesn't work for apple drops, large pine cones, newly mown grass, wet anything. I have 1/4 acre lot (10,000 sqft lawn area) with several trees
dropping leaves in the fall (New England). I used to reserve a weekend to
rake and bag, now do it several times for about 1 hour each instead, and I'm not exhausted when done.
Works well with any size riding lawn mower, run at 3rd gear (3 MPH) with
proper height and it'll do pretty good. What it don't pick up I leave for
the one that put them there (yeah her). Will fold up to size of front piece for storage but is bulky.
You need turning room to sweep, I do whole yard as one loop. Drop leaves
on driveway, suck and grind with blower/vacuum into bags and we're done.
Get the free shipping!! It's heavy.
