The Agri-Fab 85-pound push broadcast spreader maintains a wide distribution of fertilizer while reducing the necessary time, energy, and fertilizer to cultivate your lawn. This broadcast spreader distributes fertilizer in a random spray pattern to cover a distance of eight to ten feet. The broadcast coverage nurtures more natural, uniform grass growth, while limiting the needed fertilizer for an extra ecological benefit. Designed for manual pushing, the spreader also can be used for grass seed or ice melt in large open areas.

With a hopper capacity of 85 pounds, this broadcast spreader is best equipped for use in yards and spaces 14,000 square feet or smaller. This push model features a comfortable foam handle grip. The spreader is towed on two 10-by-1-3/4-inch pneumatic treadcap wheels. This push broadcast spreader requires no tool assembly and comes with Agri-Fab's 1-year limited warranty.

2Avoid this spreader - poor quality  May 16, 2006 By Brian Raisler "Choosy Consumer"
I must agree with the other reviewer that this item does not have good durability. I used it one time to apply fertilizer to my lawn. The next time I used it was three months later. It worked for 5 minutes, then just stopped spinning the spreader. The plastic gearbox had worn out completely. Just clicking, no spinning.

I give the product 2 stars instead of just one because (though it is not something declared on the Amazon web page) the product is covered by a 12 month warranty. A call to their customer service line at 1-800-448-9282 had a new gearbox assembly shipped out to me pretty easily. So, if you have a problem with this unit, give them a call and get yourself back to working... at least until the next gearbox wears out. I haven't actually gotten mine in the mail yet, so I can't comment on whether it has better construction or durability than the first one.

3Could Be Better Designed  May 04, 2010 By Donald French "SoldByDon"
This is a product where the bean counters were likely in charge of the final outcome rather than the product designers. The product is not very durable. I purchased it (sight unseen) due to its pneumatic tire feature that would be more durable than the skinny plastic wheels on competing models. Having a large country lawn with ruts, the bigger rubber tires made sense since the wheels would climb over small ruts without throwing out fertilizer unexpectedly. Problems with this unit are: 1) Legs have a bent flange at the bottom that snags on the lawn and grabs grass. The flange should have been reversed in design. I took a grinder, cut off the flanges and slipped a couple 1/2 pipe nipples over the leg ends to add durability. 2) The metal framework is very thin and causes the handle to wobble. Tightening the adjustment wing nut, made of plastic, caused it to break off. I installed metal wing nuts that work better. 3) The hopper slide adjustment is poorly marked and has little correlation to actual discharge volume. In other words, my first 15,000 sq foot bag of fertilizer would have been gone in 5000 sq feet had I not re-adjusted the lever. And the plastic lever friction mechanism is prone to changing its position due to vibration unless you tighten it down really tight - which then makes it hard to re-adjust later. All in all, a cheaply built unit that for about another $5 in cost could have been built right.

GARBAGE, DON'T WAIST YOUR MONEY.IT IS CHEAP, THE WHEELS ARE FALLING OFF, THE SPREADER DOOR DOESN'T CLOSE ALL THE WAY, SO MANY OTHER ISSUES. THE QUALITY OF THIS PRODUCT IS NO BETTER THAN A $20.00 ONE FROM YOUR HOME CENTER.

1Do Not Purchase!  Apr 17, 2006 By R. Warosh
I purchased this spreader for use behind my garden tractor and am extremely disappointed. This is the unit with the plastic enclosed gear box. I was able to spread about 75 lbs of pelletized lime before the unit quit working. On inspection I came to the conclusion that if there is too much in the hopper, the sweep pin will not turn and the plastic gears will just slip over each other and therefore the broadcast disc will not rotate. I wound up with a nice long stipe of lime before I discovered the problem. Also, the hopper door control lever is very hard to operate. I purchased this unit after my wide gravity drop bin Agri-Fab unit would only feed out of one side. I do not recommend this unit nor can I recommend any of their products.
