Not as described Aug 01, 2008
By Yardman The mesh is not metal but nylon and the dB is 23 dB not 27 dB.

Worth the money Dec 29, 2008

I would have given this item 5 stars but the mesh face shield is ineffective at keeping sawdust off of your face and out of your eyes. I purchased a clear plastic face shield for less than $5 and modified it to fit this helmet. Now it works great.
I like the ratcheting headband adjustment. It gives you a nice solid fit. The flip-up feature of the face shield mount is very secure and keeps the shield up when not needed.
All in all, this item is worth the money.

Great helmet setup Mar 09, 2010
By K. Sartain This is a well made helmet for chain saw work. The face shield screen is much better than the type with clear plastic, no scratching or fogging up. The ear muffs have three positions; up and out of the way on the helmet, down but away from the ear so you can hear between chainsawing, and close to the ear. The sound attenuation is really good so your ears don't get damaged. The headband has a padded sweat band and a 3M brand adjuster. The bucket itself is a standard bump cap type. It won't protect you if the tree falls on your head! The downside to this is that it is a B!+ch to assemble. I gave up after few minutes and had my wife assemble it.

For those looking for a forestry helmet-- look here, this is a pelitor helmet, not some cheap play thing, if your working in an area where you need the high visibility then this is what you need. Great product *****

Easy to put together and does the job well Nov 07, 2009
By John P. Gomez I really like this helmet. It is light and it provides a good fit (at least for my head). The product was very easy to put together, I didn't even have to look at the instructions. The ear protection works well and the shield holds back any shavings and small branches. It is not heavy duty but it probably works well for most people.
