Not the best spreader May 27, 2011

I bought this spreader last fall and used it 4 times. It seemed to work OK. The 5th time the adjustment knob broke off, but no big deal. The 6th time the plates that regulate the flow fell into the blades. What a mess.
While trying to repair the spreader I began to notice how poorly it was constructed. The drive train seems OK, but everything except for the bin and the agitator is steel and was heavily corroded.
They used carriage bolts, but the holes they go into are round so you can't tighten them or they spin.
The entire hopper is held on by one small snap ring. It appears that's what failed and caused the damage.
OK, so I'll order some more blades right...sorry a 2 month wait because they have to come from China.
I'm sorry, but this isn't a very good product. I can't trust that it won't break again.
I intend to take it back to Northern tool and see what they will do for me.
I can't honestly recommend this to product to anyone.
5/31/2011 !! UPDATE !!
Talked with Customer Service at Northern Tool today. They said it was my problem and offered no help whatsoever!
I used to buy a lot of products from them, but not anymore.
