NorTrac Tractors Oct 11, 2008
By Darrell M. Stafford We have owned our NorTact NT 700 tractor for more than 3 years and it only has 45 hours on it. The low hours is because: 1) it has been in the repair shop for months and 2) like everything else, it broke. I just came in to write this review today because the starter just went out. Unless you can crack a transmission apart and our prepared to rebuild your entire tractor I'd recommend avoiding NorTrac.
I think the problem is more the "company" than the product. I bought a rototiller from them and it has to be repaired every season.
not so good... Jul 25, 2011

I ordered my NT254 in Aug. 2005, I received it in Sept. of the same year. 1 week into my ownership it had to go back to the Northern Tool repair shop in a suburb of MPLS MN. The repair shop had a ball from what I gather... one of the folks was out plowing snow with it and they were going to 'use it for pictures'... they put 7 hours of work on my tractor! And didn't even change the oil, it was due for its first oil change... various pieces broke mainly knobs, a steering knuckle, then I lost a clutch (main drive clutch) which I had to split the tractor in half to repair (I was in the third year of use...) Then last September I lost the engine. It had overheated due to clogging in the wind screen in front of the radiator (which is conveniently placed behind the battery). The first instance I was able to pull down into the yard and let it calm down and watered it down on the radiator to cool it and clean out the blockage... fluff from thistle and brush... I was out mowing our power right of ways. The next morning everything started up fine and went to work about 5 minutes into some moving of dirt... chugging and black smoke poured out and I got it back into the driveway and it rattled to a stop... I changed out a head gasket. They give you one in the 'extras' box that comes with the tractor. It didn't work... The engine is a TOTAL loss. I paid some $12,000.00 with a mower, front-end-loader, and a set of forks for the 3-point. It has a total of 352 hrs on the engine!!! 352 hours... and it is DEAD. My recommendation to anyone is to NOT buy this tractor I don't care what changes they have made. I can't replace the engine... they don't make it any more! Five years, 352 hours of use... and I am left with a huge hunk of iron. Well I am presently adapting a Kohler 30hp engine to the matter!... DO NOT BUY THIS TRACTOR - 2011 or whenever! It is JUNK. you DO NOT GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

Love It..... Aug 21, 2007
By k9_tech This is the first utility tractor I have ever owned. I absolutely LOVE this thing. We have 10 acres and some livestock and I use this tractor for everything from carrying hay around to mowing the property for fire season and regrading the driveway. The only hassle (and it's probably true for all pto's)is changing the implements which can be time-consuming and tiring. The 4 x 4 works great and it goes anywhere without trouble.
I can't believe we went so long without it.

My new Tractor Jul 20, 2005
By Basil Faulty My first impression was that the paint job was really bad...I was not looking for a luxury car job but still, this did not sit well as a first impression.
My second discovery was that the ball joints for the three point hitch had never been greased. This after reading a check-off list from the seller which listed these as things to be done before delivery. The list was not filled out by the seller and no items had been checked off...so was it done or not?
I have yet to try the machine in the field and cannot comment further about that, but the things mentioned above made me feel uncomfortable with it. Before I do anything else I'm going to check out what I can to see if all else is OK, like other fittings and liquid levels.

Fabulous Aug 04, 2005
By Mrs. Ellen Streisand Brda Esquire This tractor! Those wheels! The pure aroma of the 25 hp diesel tractor motor just sends me in a whirlwind journey back to the old days when I was a child in the Chinese city of Hungbow in Northern Mississippi! This tractor, when that engine starts up is like a piece of heaven helping me cut my grass and till my garden of Gorgonzolas! I love this tractor! too bad it is not a john deer, but i just spray painted it with some krylon fusion paint and it became a Personal Grass trimming contraption of pure innocence and emotion, by john deer(tm) I luv this and it sho is fabulous! Fabulous! Thanx! ~ELLEN~
